Color Separations |
| Rather than buying a black and white printing plate separate,
we can create separate raster images of map features distinguished by color. For example, elevation contours can be extracted from a color raster image of a USGS quad. The contours can then be converted to vectors independent of the original color image. Collecting contours from USGS quads is by far the most commonly requested use of this technology. Map
Mosaics / Edge-matching
|
| Mosaics are created by combining into one file
multiple raster images, typically from aerial photography or USGS maps.
Generally, we create map mosaics by first geo-rectifying or projecting
the maps. When appropriate, we can also create a mosaic manually
through a raster editing application such as Corel Draw/Paint. |
